About Me

I am a woman, mother, wife, employee and a UK returning national.

Having lived abroad for most of my life, I returned to the UK in 2007, and despite having holdiayed a few times in the UK visiting family over the years, I really struggled throguh my first few winters.  I struggled with other things too, but the winters and the extra expenses that came with them really added to my difficulties.

We live in East Yorkshire, and the Pennine mountains shield us from the very worst of the weather from the west.  We are near the ocean, and an icy wind often blows in from the east.  Regardless of what the weather does, I find that I was freezing all winter - Just some days are worse than others, but the good or better days were very challenging.  Things have improved for me over time, but those first few years were very bleak.

Many of us live in places that we were not born in, and there are many reasons for this.  The experience can be rewarding, but it can also be difficult dealing with new circumstances.  Things also seem a lot worse when we are away from family and friends and after we have left our support group behind.

This is my small effort to try to help others navigate their first few UK winters.  I hpe something here makes your life a little better.  If you are from the UK, then I hope that something here helps you too.  Newcomers are always on a tight budget, but most people are watching there pennies now in these uncertain times.

Let me know what you think, and what else might be included?

Stay safe, stay warm.
